The first performance in modern times of a piece of Cork’s musical history – a Novitiate mass by Hurka de Monti, who served as the Director of Music at Cork’s North Cathedral in the 1810s. Discovered in Nano Nagle Place’s archives, this musical piece takes centre stage in the new Nano Nagle Place museum. Collaborating for the first time, the Cork choir Cappella Lyrica, under the direction of Maria Judge, joins forces with the Cork Baroque Players to breathe life into Cork’s rich musical history

History & Harmony is a concert series at Nano Nagle Place, created in partnership with historical music specialists East Cork Early Music, which will bring the 18th Century to life in music over 4 nights.

The project will illustrate the possibilities for the public of active participation in history through culture, speaking to the of Nano Nagle Place’s work in bringing 18th Century Cork to life. Showcasing Ireland finest emerging and established historical performance specialists, the concerts will be an immersive and engaging alcohol-free experience for the public, recreating the music of the 18th Century surrounded by historic building and artefacts.
