A vibrant local choir in an evocative Cork setting
Sunday 4th May, 3:00pm | Goldie Chapel, Nano Nagle Place | Free Event
Join us on the Choral Trail – a unique journey through Cork City and County where the streets, chapels, and public spaces come alive with the sound of song. As part of this beloved Festival feature, we welcome Cantate to the beautiful Goldie Chapel at Nano Nagle Place for a joyful afternoon performance.
Formed in Monkstown in 2006, Cantate is a dynamic mixed-voice choir under the direction of Méadhbh Campbell. Their repertoire spans sacred music, rock ‘n’ roll, musical theatre, and contemporary favourites, delivered with energy, warmth, and precision. The group has collaborated with celebrated Irish sopranos Cara O’Sullivan and Majella Cullagh, and has earned numerous accolades at national choral festivals, including top honours at AIMS and Féile an tSamhraidh.
Cantate’s musical adventures have taken them as far afield as Amsterdam, where a memorable collaboration with Dutch choir Koor rooK blossomed into lasting creative exchange – even continuing virtually during lockdown with a widely shared rendition of An Irish Blessing.
Whether you’re a seasoned chorister or simply curious, this is your chance to experience the joy of community music-making in one of Cork’s most atmospheric venues.
