Learn more about our participants below:
Cork Migrant Centre Dance group comprised of migrant girls living in Cork. The group has been together for a year under the mentor-ship of Red FM DJ Stevie G and dance Instructor Andrea Williams. They have performed at various events ranging from Africa Day in Cork, UCC Refugee Week, UCC Music Variety Show, and Dell Technologies.
David Lawlor is from Ballinspittle, Cork. Music has always been a major presence in his life with Elvis Presley his earliest influence. Today, blues remains a dominant influence for him. David began writing songs 10 years ago and has described it as a ‘therapeutic process’. He is currently studying in UCC in the evenings and hopes to move into full time education this year.
Cór na Laoí was formed as part of the “Happy Voices Healthy Living Initiative” 2017. Community members and workers came together from all over the city in several choral workshops and celebrations. During the project, friendships were formed and there was plenty of laughter and fun, all through the medium of music. Over 15 participants from the Lantern Project are now part of this choir.
