A guided walking tour from South Presentation Convent to North Presentation Convent, taking Nano Nagle’s route across Cork city centre, exploring her world and daily routine, while also delving into the origins of the schools in Shandon and the foundation of North Presentation Convent in 1799. Led by Dr Danielle O’Donovan, architectural historian.
Join Dr Danielle O’Donovan who will conduct a walking tour from Nano Nagle Place South Pres to North Pres walking the route which Nano would have done when visiting her 7 schools across Cork City.
We will depart from Nano Nagle Place’s front plaza at 2pm.
This event forms part of the Nano Nagle Place annual exhibition ‘Branching Out: The Presentation Sisters 1775-1828’ which is being launched during Heritage Week 2023. This exhibition explores the spread of the Presentation Sisters across the country in the period before Catholic Emancipation. During Heritage Week we have invited historians to help us to tell the story of some of those early convents.
