About the Museum

Join us in celebrating International Museum Day and discover a museum with a difference, making a real impact in the present day.
Experience a captivating self-guided heritage tour that vividly illustrates 18th-century life in Cork, follow Nano Nagle’s remarkable journey as she tirelessly assisted and educated the city’s underprivileged, and discover how her legacy lives on through the global outreach of the Presentation Sisters. Younger visitors receive a special booklet to help guide them through the museum, with crayons to take with them on their their discovery and for use at home.
Nano Nagle Place houses a complex of beautiful 18th-century buildings including the convent that Nano built for the Ursuline Order in 1771. Objects owned and used by Nano, now lovingly conserved, are housed here. In this building you will also find ‘Miss Nagle’s Parlour’, a carefully conserved 18th-century room where Nano spent time with the Ursuline sisters and their boarding students.
In April 2022, Nano Nagle Place received the Council of Europe Museum Prize for 2022. You can read more about this achievement on our blog.
