Enjoy longer days, and longer hours, at Nano Nagle Place this summer with extended hours of operation during the months of July and August. This seasonal extension of normal business hours provides an additional opportunity for visitors to explore the rich, vibrant, heritage site and current social projects integral to the Cork City community that honour the legacy of the Venerable Nano Nagle.
As part of this summer’s unique offerings, visitors can also enjoy an exclusive walking tour of the South Parish buildings every Thursday throughout the month of July. Normally closed to the public, exploring by foot the sites that make up one of the oldest parts of the city is an ideal way for guests to experience a lesser-known walk-through history, revealing intimate layers of Cork’s past.
John Smith, CEO of Nano Nagle Place, extends a warm welcome to locals and summer sightseers alike “We are delighted to keep our doors open seven days a week during the most exciting time of the year in Cork. It is a privilege to offer public access to our one-of-a-kind heritage site and beautifully appointed museum now on Mondays to better serve our guests.”
What’s on this summer in Nano Nagle Place?
Summer festivities at Nano Nagle Place include participation in the Playful Culture Trail, a collaboration of museums, galleries, and venues across Cork City to celebrate play, learning and creativity. This fun, family-friendly, activity invites children to interact with local attractions and engage their inner sustainable artist.
Now through August, discover the special exhibition Ordinary Lives: Cork 1922 in partnership with Cork City Libraries at the Nano Nagle Place Lecture Space, or virtually via Cork City Libraries Online. Alongside Small Lives: At Home in Cork in 1920, these exhibitions use carefully curated archives to detail the social, economic, and cultural life during the Irish Civil War, both inside and outside the South Presentation Convents.
