Archives
The Presentation Sisters Congregational Archives or PSCA are housed in a state-of-the-art repository that sits in a building dating back to 1779. This significant collection tells the story of the Congregation from its origin in 1775 through to the present day. Many of these records provide an interesting window into life in 18th Century Cork.
The collecting of records by Sisters can be traced back as far as 1784 – the year in which Nano Nagle passed away. Much of the collection was stored in South Presentation Convent until development on the museum began.
In addition to its extensive paper-based collections, the Archive also holds an impressive array of artefacts relating to Nano and her family, the Presentation Order, and religious life more broadly. It is broken down into five sub-collections:
- Textiles
- Ethnographic Objects
- The Nano Nagle Collection
- Irish Objects
- Religious Objects
Access to the Archive is managed at the discretion of the Congregational Archivist. If you would like to arrange an appointment to visit the Archive, please contact congregationalarchives@pbvm.org
